AUGUST:
- Welcome back to BG.
- Start a college file. Keep information you receive and collect from colleges you are visiting in one convenient location.
- Start looking for college scholarships--- it might seem early to do this, but time spent now could pay off in college. Visit the counseling website to review the list of scholarships we receive each year.
- Update your Raise.me account
SEPTEMBER:
- Enroll in Dual Enrollment courses.
- Meet with college reps when they visit the BG
- All juniors will take the ASVAB
- Military representatives will visit BG during lunches
- Visit colleges – start a list of what you like and don’t like about the schools you visit.
OCTOBER:
- Visit college reps when they visit BG
- Go on college visits (aim for 3 to 5 visits this year)
- Student Athletes should create an account with NCAA and request to have your transcript submitted. Assure you have the necessary requirements for the NCAA with your counselor.
- How to request a transcript? submit the “red form” found on the counseling office weebly page for each transcript you need to have sent, including to the NCAA.
- Update your Raise.me account
NOVEMBER:
- Career Shadow Day – your English teacher will provide you with details. Take this opportunity to learn more about a career which interests you.
- Start your Common Application (Common App)
- Register for the December SAT
- Register for the December or February ACT
- Go on college visits (aim for 3 to 5 this year)
- International students should Register to take the TOEFL
DECEMBER:
- Review your PSAT Results
- Go on college visits (aim for 3 to 5 this year)
- Study for and/or take the SAT and ACT
- International students should study for and take the TOEFL
- AP® exam fee scholarship applications will be distributed. Are you enrolled in an AP course? Taking the exam in May is mandatory. Consider applying for an AP exam fee scholarship.
- Consider our 10-day study abroad opportunities. Earn high school and college credit when studying in France and/or Austria this summer.
JANUARY:
- Scheduling for next year begins. Discuss your options with your counselor.
- Mid-Terms

FEBRUARY:
- Register to retake the SAT in March

JUNE:

- Purchase AP textbooks/supplies and work on your AP summer assignments.
- Check the BG website for AP® books and summer assignments

- Create a plan for completing your summer assignments

JULY:
- Revisit the schools and programs you are planning to apply to attend.
- AP Scores are available online at collegeboard.org
- Study for the SAT and ACT
- Take the ACT in July
AUGUST:
- Finalize your list of colleges. Make sure you have safety, probable, and reach colleges on your list.
- College applications – you should plan to complete and submit your college applications by Thanksgiving. Take time this summer to organize and prepare these applications.
- Register to take the SAT and/or ACT in Oct/Sept.
- Take the SAT in August
