PA Free Enterprise Week -- Each summer Lycoming College and Pennsylvania College of Technology offer week-long summer sessions to Pennsylvania teens grades 10 and 11. PFEW teaches aspiring business leaders how to effectively manage businesses in the twenty-first century. Every student accepted will be awarded a full scholarship to attend; the only cost to the student is a $285 registration fee and travel expenses. Additionally, every student who attends will earn up to $20,000 in college scholarships.
People to People-- This program allows students to do domestic or international travel where they challenge the youth to become more globally aware. To check out the programs click here.
The University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy and Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship at Lehigh University, former Governor's School programs, are now accepting applications for the 2017 summer programs. Harvard College Prep-- Every summer, more than 1,000 motivated high school students from around the world are selected to attend Harvard Summer School to experience college life. They are challenged and rewarded, both personally and academically. They stand up to the test of college-level courses taken alongside undergraduate students and explore subjects unavailable at their high school. For more information, click here.
Driver's Education Classes -- Every summer, Altoona Area High School offers drivers education classes. Students can pick up a copy of the drivers education application in the counseling office beginning the last week in May. The cost is typically $150.00.
