This information will give you a glimpse of what you might expect each month of your senior year.

AUGUST:
- Welcome back to BG.
- Make sure you have a personal email account by now. Consider a more professional sounding address.
- Finalize your list of colleges. Make sure you have safety, probably and reach colleges on your list.
- Review college applications and informational materials for each school.
- Start a college file: keep your applications, letters, essays, due dates, in one convenient location.
- Take the SAT
- Start looking for scholarships--- visit counseling website
- Update your Raise.me account
SEPTEMBER:
- Start meeting individually with your school counselor
- Enroll in Dual Enrollment courses.
- Visit college reps when they visit the counseling office
- “What to do and When to do it” guidance lesson
- ASVAB – for students considering joining the Military
- Military representatives will visit BG during lunches
- Take the ACT; International students take the TOEFL
- Attend the Financial Aid Night at BG
- Visit and apply to colleges
- Know your application deadlines.
- Begin working on your college essays.
- Request letters of recommendation
OCTOBER:
- Continue working on your applications
- Complete the FAFSA with your parents
- Attend the FAFSA Workshop at Mount Aloysius
- International students: complete college financial forms
- Attend afterschool CommonApp Q & A
- Take the SAT
- Take the ACT
- Send your test scores to the colleges
- Complete essays and have the reviewed by an adult/teacher
- Submit early decision and early action applications
- Student Athletes assure you have the necessary requirements for the NCAA.
- Update your Raise.me account
NOVEMBER:
- Submit early decision and early action applications
- Submit all college application materials before Thanksgiving break
- Request BG transcripts from counseling office
- Ensure that your letters of recommendation were sent
- Submit Application, Essays, SAT/ACT Scores, etc.
DECEMBER:
- Continue working on scholarship applications
- Contact the financial aid office for school specific scholarships
- AP Exam Fee scholarship applications will be distributed.
JANUARY:
- Mid-Terms
- Request mid-year reports through the counseling office, CommonApp mid-year reports are automatically sent
- Begin receiving college decision letters
- Keep these in your college folder
FEBRUARY:
- Continue to file college decision and financial documents
- Continue working on scholarship applications
MARCH:
- This month you will receive an email with the link to complete your Senior Survey. This is the time you will submit all the decision letters you’ve been saving in your file.
APRIL:
- Notify colleges if you plan attend
- Take any necessary placement tests
- Senior survey is due.
- Email pictures of your decision letters to Mrs. J. Butler.
- If you haven’t already, submit your FAFSA before May 1st!
- Study for your AP Exams
MAY:
- Take your AP Exams
- Study for your finals
- Your BG email account will become inactive soon, make sure you update any accounts to your personal email.
- It’s graduation time!
JUNE:
- Your FINAL transcript will automatically be sent to the college you indicated on your senior survey and to the NCAA for student athletes.
- RELAX! Enjoy time with family and friends before you begin the next chapter of your education or career.
JULY:
- It’s time to request your Dual Enrollment transcript from SFU, MAC, Seton Hill &/or Penn Highlands. Your college will need these grades when reviewing your course load.
- Send AP scores to your college through collegeboard.org
